Family Days out in Dorset

We want to share with you our top days out Dorset so you can plan where you want to visit when staying at the hotel. Some are on the doorstep of the hotel, some are a short drive away – but all will be fun for all the family!

Weymouth Sealife Adventure Park

Rain or shine the Weymouth Sealife Adventure Park is a great day out for young and old alike. With a myriad of underwater creatures for you to see in displays including an underwater walk-through tunnel. They have a large adventure park area that will keep little ones busy for hours – with giant slides, rope bridges and so much more. For warmer days they have a splash zone that will mean lots of splashing, fun and play to help keep kids cool.  Be sure to enquire about tickets for Weymouth Sealife at hotel reception to take advantage of some great discounts.

Fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast

Moonfleet is perfectly placed on the Jurassic Coast. A short drive from the hotel you will find the coastal towns of Lyme Regis and Charmouth – both of which offer great fossil hunting. Whether you are a first time explorer or a seasoned fossil hunter, you can pass the hours hunting along the coast.

Monkey World

Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside, this ape rescue centre is an educational experience as well as a lot of fun! You will have the chance to meet endangered apes and monkeys that have been rescued from around the globe. Spread over 65 acres, they also have a large outdoor play area where your own “monkeys” can run

A walk along the South West Coastal Path

The South West Coastal path runs right along the bottom of the hotel garden so you won’t need your car to get there! You can grab a map of walks from the reception team – some are ideal for those with little children (3 mile round trip with a stopping point halfway!).  For those who want to go further then, you can head east to Portland or West to Abbotsbury.

National Trust properties

There are a number of great National Trust properties nearby and they are all great for families. One of our favourites is Corfe Castle, nestled in the rolling Purbeck Countryside this castle is steeped in history. During school holidays they run a wide range of activities including re-enactments. From Corfe Castle it is only a short drive to beautiful Studland beach which is also owned by the National Trust.
