Weymouth Sealife Life Centre and Adventure Park is a short drive from the hotel and has a Jawsome Sharks and friends event running from 15th February until 26th April. You can join the quest to help Professor Finn find the missing Top Trumps cards, so he can teach everybody about the incredible sharks and sea creatures that live at the aquarium.
2. Elemis Masterclasses
Join our therapists on the 19th March for a special masterclass in how best to look after your skin. They will take you through the best daily routines, products and top tips. These sessions are 90 minutes long and there is a small charge of £5 per person (redeemable against any products purchased). Sessions run at 1pm & 6pm.

3. Weymouth Seaside
7 miles from Moonfleet is Weymouth, a traditional seaside town. There are so many things to do with family, it is difficult to know where to start! From the award winning beach, donkey rides, funfair and much more. Be sure to sample the fish and chips on the harbour side or sample the renowned Rossi’s Ice Cream.
4. Pamper Your Pooch
Dogs are always welcome at Moonfleet, our own resident Cocker Spaniel, Snoopy, just loves making new friends! All dogs receive their own welcome pack, dog blanket, treats to use during their stay. There are plenty of great walks nearby (just ask a reception for recommendations and maps/directions).
5. Me time
Time to relax and unwind is a must for everyone staying with us – sit by the fire in one of the lounges with a book, enjoy a peaceful pamper treatment, indulge in Moonfleet G&T and candlelit meal – bliss!
Join us on our Baby’s First Stay (suitable for babies 12 weeks up to 18 months), and 2 Course dinner each evening with a Moonfleet signature cocktail each, alongside 2 hours of complimentary childcare, a Stork gift pack and all of the baby paraphernalia in the room on arrival – you can still have a relaxing break with a little one in tow – don’t believe it – give us a try!
7. Spring has Sprung
Spring is a lovely time to visit Dorset. The gardens are full of Spring bulbs and bright colours, the blossom is on the trees and nature starts to burst into life. Visit Abbotsbury Sub-tropical gardens where you explore all the floral and fauna or take a Trip to the National Trust property at Kingston Lacey.
8. Easter fun
Its an Egg-citing time at the hotel during the Easter holidays! Not only do we have a huge range of activities available in the Four Bears Den, but you can also enjoy fossil walks and talks with our expert, Andrew (selected dates). Our Tennis coach will also be back for all those budding future Wimbledon champions!
If you are staying with us on Easter Weekend then you may also have a visit from a very hoppy special guest!
9. Fossil Fun
During school holidays our resident fossil expert, Andrew, will offer guided fossil walks along the fleet as well as bringing in his huge collection for guests to take a look at. For those who want to get out and a bout Fossil Hunting then we recommend heading to Lyme Regis. The annual Fossil Festival take place on the 1-3 May 2020 and is not be missed!
One of Dorset’s most well-known Food Festivals it’s a great place to sample great seafood, see talented chef’s demonstrate their skills and there are also a number of family activities running on the Harbour side in Weymouth. This year’s event is on the 11th & 12th July.
11. Camp Bestival
The much-loved family festival takes place at the iconic Lulworth Castle. This 4 day festival is packed full of live music acts, children’s activities, shows and characters.
12. The Ultimate Aqua Adventure
Take a day out to The Dorset Water Park – suitable for adults and children! These fun inflatable obstacle courses are on two lakes in the Purbeck Countryside - not far from Corfe Castle. Who will stay dry and on their feet the longest in your family?
13. Lazy hazy days of summer
Feeling exhausted? Relax on one of the sun loungers in the garden – read the newspaper or a magazine with cheeky summer cocktail!
14. Coastal Walks
We are lucky to have the South West Coastal Path running right along the bottom of our garden. You can take a walk along to the east towards Portland or West toward Langton Herring & Abbotsbury. For more information on local walks ask at reception or look at our walks blog
15. Local Literature
A number of great writers have used Dorset to set the scene in their books. Just outside Dorchester you can visit the cottage where Thomas Hardy was born, and the countryside that surround it features lots in his works. If you head to Purbeck in East Dorset you will come to area’s explored by Enid Blyton while holidaying in Dorset. Many famous Dorset landmarks can be found in the Famous Five stories – Corfe Castle is Kirran Castle, Brownsea Island is Whispering Island. Make sure to pack a picnic with lashings of ginger beer if you go off on an adventure to find them!
16. A Step back in time
Tyneham Village is referred to as Dorset’s ‘lost’ village. The village was evacuated in 1943 during WWII and has been left as a ghost village ever since. The area was needed for military training during WWII but after the war ended, the villagers were not allowed to return.
You can visit today and see some of the original buildings and read about what village life used to be like. It is a great way to step back in time.
17. One for the Cheese lovers…
Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival takes place on the 12th & 13th September and is a must for all cheese lovers! It has over 60 stalls of local foods and LOTS of cheese, plus a wide range of crafts, cheese making, demonstrations and activities for children.
18. Monkey World
Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre is a 40 minute drive from the hotel and is a perfect family day out all year round.
Set in 65 acres and is home to over 250 rescued and endangered primates. You are able to see them in their habitats, hear talks from expert keepers and also your own little “monkeys” can make play around in the huge adventure play ground.
19. Cosy Lounges
When the weather isn’t up to much there is no better way to spend an afternoon than curled up on the sofa in front of one of our cosy fires in the lounge. The only decision you need to make is hot chocolate ot G&T?
