Tony Smith has been a chef for over twenty years, he stumbled into catering after a family move from the Midlands to Devon left him as a trained mechanic needing a job. He then went back to basics, washing up in his local restaurant and this tiny spark led him to formal training and much grander things.

Tony eventually settled in Dorset with his family and has been consistently producing good quality food for Moonfleet for the last 10 years.

His food is classical in technique with a strong emphasis on flavour, simplicity and style. He nurtures his stock pot to produce beautiful dense ‘liquid gold’ he is just short of actually cuddling the container.

Dorset has a wealth of fine local produce which, where possible, he will try to source. He is always willing to discuss menus and tries to accommodate dietary requirements whenever he can.
