We pride ourselves in our family-friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome to explore the house and fascinating collection of colonial artefacts. We understand that a holiday is only a holiday if everyone gets some time to have a break. This is where the children get to play while the adults relax.
And play they will: watch them climb trees and have games in the grounds, sit back while the little ones enjoy the sand-pit or take them rockpooling at nearby coves. We want children to enjoy the kind of freedom that the countryside affords, having fun in the fresh air. And if the weather’s not so clever, you can let them loose in the indoor play area or have a splashabout in the three heated indoor pools.
As most parents know, entertaining children of different ages on holiday can be a challenge – but with our superb range of activities, you need never worry that the older ones will be bored, nor that the younger ones will feel left out. There is literally something for everyone. While family time on holiday is wonderful, we also know that parents crave an afternoon off, an unwinding massage, or a quiet evening meal together. Our crèche facilities and other activities will give you just that freedom.
Crèche and children's activities
Our Ofsted registered crèche is open for residents from 10am-12 noon and from 3pm-5pm every day, welcoming children from three months to eight years. With treasure hunts, arts and crafts, baking, painting, messy play, energetic games indoors and out, our enthusiastic team headed up by super-nanny Felicity will ensure that every child has a great time.
The three indoor pools are all heated to 30 degrees, so you can spend as long as you like in the water with your little minnows without getting freezing. Having a separate baby pool and a 1m-deep beginners’ pool means the bigger children can splash about to their hearts’ content in the deeper pool. And adults can use the sauna as a bolt-hole: just shut the door and let that cedar-infused warmth melt away your stresses.
You need never worry about the weather spoiling the children's fun. The Verandah is a huge space chock-full of ride-on toys, table tennis, a pool table, a traversing climbing wall, air hockey, trampolines, a skittle alley and an indoor football pitch. There’s also an under-fives soft play area, so no matter what age your children, they will have somewhere exciting to play.
Outside, smaller children will love the climbing frame and super sandpit, or joining other littlies on a ‘Toddler Waddle’ – a guided walk through the grounds, discovering mini-beasts along the way. Older children can run wild and play on the trees and lawns, play tennis on our hard courts, try Geo-caching or walk along the coast path with Snoopy the spaniel as an optional accompaniment.
We offer a babysitting service at additional charge, baby listening is free of charge.
We can also help take the strain out of packing by providing baby equipment, including cots (wooden and travel), changing mats, nappy bins, bottle warmers, sterilisers, toilet seats and night lights. Please call in advance if you require any of these.
At Moonfleet Manor, we are dog-friendly – for a small extra charge you may bring your canine family member on holiday, but we do have a few rules:
- Dogs are not permitted in the Verandah or restaurant
- They must be kept on a lead in all public areas and gardens
- Please clean up after them in the garden and surrounding areas (extra bags are available at Reception)
- If cleaning up after your pet can’t be dealt with by our household staff, any additional cleaning costs will be passed on to the guests
- If you leave your dog in the room in the morning, please advise Reception of the best time for housekeeping to service the room
